Second Life
I'm going to break it down real simple: Second Life is a game where real people create fake versions of themselves to own fake businesses to make fake stuff and sell it in the real world for real dollars...what? The game is somewhat a copy of the real world with possible occupations as tour guide, landscaper, bodyguard, gunsmith, etc... Second Life also uses Linden Dollars which have a real world exchange rate with US Dollars. The game features land owning opportunities, businesses, and vitual campuses created and supported by actual universities; the developers offer cash incentives for the user with the most visited piece of land; and the community has multiple real world websites devoted to the shops in the game. I just wonder what will happen will all of these virtual economies with no real idea of scarcity start affecting the real world economies. Second-Life (CoolHunter) |
